Arts Council to host info session on Poetry Out Loud

Join the Arts Council to learn more about the upcoming Poetry Out Loud, National Recitation Contest competitions. Calling all Drama and English high school students and teachers. Join the San Benito County Arts Council on Zoom, Thursday, Dec. 17th, at 4 pm for an Informational Session about Poetry Out Loud, the National Poetry Recitation contest. Come learn more about preparing for and participating in this January’s San Benito County finals.

Tune in to find out how the virtual contest will work this year at the County, State and National levels. Teachers will learn about how to engage students in memorizing and performing their poems. Students will learn about the resources available to support their participation in this FREE program.

More about Poetry Out Loud

Since 2005, Poetry Out Loud has reached more than 3.8 million students and 60,000 teachers from 16,000 schools nationwide. This January, Poetry Out Loud will take place in San Benito County for the sixth time with support from the California Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Poetry Foundation.

Attend this year’s virtual competition on Friday, January 29th at 6 PM and watch local high school students compete in the San Benito County Finals. The winner of this competition will advance to the California State Poetry Out Loud contest. The California State champion will advance to the Poetry Out Loud National Finals where awards and school stipends will be distributed.
